| Conversation and other correspondence with Adeline **** Notes from a conversation with Adeline Bassett Cook Strange(10) in July 2002 during a visit to her house with Clifton Cook(11). - Her sister Phyllis Cook(10) went to the Pennsylvania Academy of Art. - Richard Lamen- is Cynthia’s new name. She was previously married to Bruton Strange(11). Cynthia maiden name was Chandler. Her family was in LA when Barlow Lippincott (engineer) designed a water system for Los Angles and her family. Barlow was married to Josephine Cook(08) sister to John Darwin Shepard Cook. - George Cook(08) had colitis. - George was kidnapped by the Kansas City Kid, and took his wife Ethel to Italy to purchase furniture for their new house in Pebble Beach CA. - George was also involved with WWI bonds. - George’s house in CA was can be seen in "Passions Weekend", which was the name of the movie filmed there. It starred Rudolph Valentino. - Bishop's (Right Rev Philip Cook(09) portrait was painted by Catherine Pyle, Howard Pyle’s sister as a gift to Adeline Bassett Cook (the bishop's wife). It is currently held by Philip Geoffrey Cook(11) - Philip Cook Jr.(10) went to Lenox Academy but left and graduated from Episcopal Acadamy in Philadelphia. - Adeline Bassett Cook had ordered clothes from Best & Company in New York. When they arrived, they were addressed to Mrs. Phyllis Cook. Adeline thought this was a good name and named one of her daughters Phyllis. - 1903 – Anita Levin, Philip Cook(09) first wife, died in childbirth and a baby also died. (NY Times obituary published.) |
